Laurie Ayers, APRN

Laurie joined Advanced Kidney Care in July 2025 as a Nurse Practitioner, bringing more than 20 years of nursing experience caring for families in the Council Bluffs and Omaha communities. Laurie began her nursing career at Iowa Western Community College, earning her LPN in 2006 and RN in 2008. She spent most of her career in labor and delivery, where she was honored to play a role in welcoming new families into the world.

In 2021, Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Briar Cliff University and went on to complete her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Cincinnati in 2023. Laurie has a deep passion for educating and empowering patients to take an active role in their health. She values building relationships, listening to her patients’ stories, and helping them find the tools they need to achieve their personal health goals.

Outside of work, Laurie is an avid football fan—especially when it comes to college football. She proudly cheers for the Iowa State Cyclones (and even roots for Iowa when they aren’t playing each other). She enjoys spending time in her backyard planting colorful flowers, despite being allergic to most of them.

Laurie has been married for 32 years to her husband, who still makes her laugh until she cries. They have two grown children who share their parents’ sense of humor, along with two cats who tolerate them and a very loving, high-maintenance rat terrier. Laurie lives by the belief that healthcare providers are not “in charge” of a patient’s health, but rather partners who help each person achieve their own wellness goals.
