Hypertension Management

Hypertension:  The Silent Killer

High blood pressure often causes no pain and no warning signs, yet it can quietly damage the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes for years before it reveals itself as a stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, or vision loss. That is why hypertension should never be ignored—it is not “just a number,” but a serious medical condition that deserves early and expert treatment.

At Advanced Kidney Care, we believe hypertension care should go far beyond a quick blood pressure check and a prescription refill. We offer a modern, specialized approach focused on accurate diagnosis, thoughtful review of home blood pressure readings, individualized treatment plans, and a deeper evaluation for patients whose blood pressure is severe or difficult to control. Dr. Pepin is a recognized leader in hypertension management and speaks nationally on the treatment of high blood pressure, helping bring leading-edge care and expertise to the patients we serve.

Have Resistant Hypertension?

We can help!

AKC is the leader in hypertension management.

What is Resistant Hypertension?

Resistant hypertension is high blood pressure that remains above goal despite using multiple blood pressure medications, and it can be one of the most challenging forms of hypertension to treat. At Advanced Kidney Care, we specialize in evaluating difficult-to-control blood pressure, identifying contributing causes, and creating advanced treatment plans to help patients achieve safer, more effective control.

For patients with resistant hypertension, AKC offers comprehensive evaluation and innovative therapies, including specialty medications and renal denervation, to help achieve better blood pressure control and reduce long-term risk.

Renal Denervation

Renal denervation is an advanced, minimally invasive procedure that can help lower blood pressure when it stays high despite taking several medications. During the procedure, a small catheter is guided into the blood vessels that supply the kidneys, where treatment is delivered to calm overactive nerves that can contribute to high blood pressure.

For some patients with resistant hypertension, this can be an important additional option when standard treatment has not been enough or medications are causing problems. Dr. Pepin is proud to be one of the few physicians in the country offering this leading-edge procedure to help patients with the most difficult-to-control blood pressure.
