While I was born near the Space Center in Florida, I grew up in Iowa and have called the Tabor area home since the age of 12. After graduating from Fremont-Mills High School in Tabor in 1982, I spent my freshman year at Iowa State University before deciding to focus on family life. My husband and I, high school sweethearts, have been married for over 40 years. Together, we raised three children who have each gone on to graduate from ISU and start families of their own. I’m proud to be “Gramma” to seven amazing grandchildren—four girls and three boys—who fill my life with laughter, energy, and joy.

My path to nursing was not a straight one, but a calling I discovered later in life. I earned my ADN/RN at age 35, my bachelor’s degree at 52, and my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at 58. With over 25 years of nursing experience, primarily in intensive care and related specialties, I am passionate about providing patient-centered care.

I am drawn to nephrology because of the relationships built with chronically ill patients. I believe in empowering patients through education and supporting them in navigating their health journey. It’s an honor to hear their life stories, which enrich my practice and perspective. My personal philosophy is simple: our team strives to treat every patient with the same care and compassion we would want for our own family members.

 

When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading, sewing, working in my yard, and—most of all—spending time with my grandkids.
